Scholarships

Scholarship applications are available as downloadable forms below or from the Department of Art office. Although certain scholarships do not require demonstrated financial need, to be considered for scholarships, students must have completed and filed a UNLV Academic Scholarship/Grant-in Aid form and a FAFSA form with Student Financial Services.

Birdman Family Scholarship

For Theatre Arts, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, and Art History majors. Recipients must be enrolled full-time (with a minimum of 12 credits) and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Cynthia Bunker Memorial Scholarship

  • GPA of 2.5 or greater
  • Resident of Clark County
  • Active participant in major’s department
  • 40 hours per semester on community service
  • Annual report submission

The Cynthia Bunker Memorial Scholarship is made possible by the Andre Agassi Foundation. It is awarded to students majoring in Art, Dance, Theatre, Music, Architecture, or Film. This scholarship has no deadline and can be applied for at any time.

Recipients must spend 40 hours per semester of the award working on community service activities (to be outlined by the College of Fine Arts and the Andre Agassi Foundation) and must be active participants in the department of their major. Recipients must also submit an annual report detailing their activities during the year and future plans.

DeVos Scholarship

The DeVos Scholarship was established by Mrs. Mary Alice DeVos to support studies in the Fine Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The scholarship awards individual students entering the visual arts discipline and demonstrating the potential for academic and artistic excellence.

The scholarship is renewable for five years contingent upon the maintenance of a 3.0 grade point average, a minimum of twelve semester credits, and a successful yearly portfolio review conducted by the Art Department faculty.

The application includes slide portfolio, artist’s statement, letters of recommendation, and for incoming students, a copy of their high school transcript. Students renewing a Devos must formally re-apply by completing a new application form and submitting work for review during the Faculty walk-through held in conjunction with the BFA application review. Re-applying students need not submit slides because it is assumed that the original works will be available for display.

Harry Knudson Memorial Scholarship

The Harry Knudson Memorial Scholarship was established by Mrs. Jean Knudson in the name of her husband who was an avid supporter of the visual arts community. The annual scholarship is awarded to art majors of at least sophomore standing showing financial need.The student must also maintain a 2.75 grade point average and be enrolled with 12 semester credits. The awardee is chosen by the Art Department faculty.

Marjorie Francis Laird Scholarship

Art Majors, all class levels, minimum GPA 2.75

Rick Parks Scholarship

Full time undergraduate Art major with either a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class standing with a demonstrated emphasis in computer graphics. Financial need may be considered but is not required. Complete a UNLV Scholarship Application for the academic year in which the applicant applies of the scholarship. Minimum 3.0 grade point average. Recipients may reapply for this award on an annual basis, provided they continue to meet the scholarship criteria.
