Brent Sommerhauser has exhibited nationally and internationally and is a member of the exciting artist collective, Telegraph. Brent’s work resides in numerous public and private collections including the new H & R Block World Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. He was included as one of just eight Americans selected for the 2004 Windsor Biennial in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and was included in New Glass Review 26, published by The Corning Museum of Glass to highlight 100 innovative works in glass worldwide.
Since becoming a resident of Nevada, his work has been recognized by the Nevada Arts Council with two Artist Fellowship honorable mention awards and a Jackpot Grant. His recent solo exhibition, Structuring the Invisible, received a Cirque du Soleil Community Support Grant for the Visual and Performing Arts.
Sommerhauser holds a BS in Psychology and a BFA from Emporia State University and received his MFA from The Ohio State University. Brent has taught art at Hastings College, The Kansas City Art Institute, The Ohio State University, Pilchuck Glass School, The Glass Furnace in Istanbul, Turkey and chaired the glass program at Detroit’s College for Creative Studies.
