Professor Hendee Recognized

Department of Art professor Stephen Hendee’s sculpture downtown, “Monument to the Simulacrum” has been recognized by Art in America magazine as one of the best public art projects in 2007. Also scheduled to recognize the artwork during National Arts in Humanities month in October, the city council will honor Professor Hendee with a city proclamation during the ceremonials between 9 and 10am on October 1st.

Department Welcomes New Computing Supervisor

Michael Sy joins us in July to provide support for Grant Hall Computer Lab. Michael also oversees the other College of Fine Arts computer labs.

Justin Crabtree wins Pilchuck Scholarship

Justin received a fiercely competitive full scholarship to Pilchuck Glass School this summer. There were over 350 applicants worldwide; Justin was one of the approximately 75 fortunate recipients chosen for a scholarship due to his impressive jury score. He has chosen to take a course offered by our own 3D design and Foundations instructor Brent Sommerhauser this July.

Graphic design students form association

Congratulations to SAGA, the Student Association of Graphic Designers, which held its inaugural meeting in November. President Tom Speak introduced the board and described the goals of SAGA. The meeting was attended by a large and enthusiastic group.
