Application and admission

 

 

Applications, portfolios, and all supporting documentation must be postmarked on or before February 1 and must be received on or before February 10. Applicants must make an application for admission to UNLV through the Graduate College. However, the Department of Art has additional requirements detailed below. The Department of Art Admission Committee makes its recommendations for admissions and awards of assistantships to the Graduate College. The recommendations are contingent upon final review and approval by the Graduate College. Only a letter of admission sent directly to the applicant by the Graduate College is considered the official admission offer. The letter is an important document that must be retained by the applicant.

 

APPLICATION PART I
Required by Graduate College

1. Completed application form and fee payment. The online application is available at: http://graduatecollege.unlv.edu/admissions/app_for_admission.htm

2. Bachelor's Degree and official transcripts sent directly from the institution. The Graduate College requires the bachelors degree with official transcripts. Professional art schools attended must be accredited by a recognized regional accrediting body.

APPLICATION PART II
Required by the Department of Art

3. References from three persons practicing or teaching in the field in which application is made, attesting to the applicant's ability and competence in that field.

3. A one-page statement of intent. List your name and area of study at the top and attach a hardcopy (print or photocopy) of one piece that is represented in the slide portfolio.

4. Examples of your work in 35 mm slide format (20 slides), or as digital images (high-resolution jpgs) for preliminary selection. Portfolios may be submitted as slides pre-loaded into a carousel, or on a CD or DVD.
