Jeff Burden, who joined the Department of Art at UNLV this year as Chair. Jeff received his BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Evansville, Indiana, and his MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University in Bloomington. He has received numerous research grants for study abroad in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia. He was Artist-in-Residence at Victoria College of Art in Melbourne, Australia. In addidtion, Mr. Burden received two Fulbright Research Grants (to Malaysia and Thailand) and has lectured at numerous institutions abroad.
A recipient of individual artists grants from the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Michigan Council for the Arts, Jeff has had one-person exhibitions at Dartmouth College, Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts, the Evansville Museum of Arts and Sciences, and LaGrange College. He was also included in the American Drawing Biennials V and VI, Muscarelle Museum of Art, Williamsburg VA and the National Computer Art Invitational Exhibition at Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA.
Mr. Burden established the International Visiting Artist Program at Columbus State University in Georgia and has done extensive international work. He has organized over fifty exhibits including curating fifteen. Among the list of the over sixty artists include Ed Paschke, Justine Kurland, Calum Colvin, Susan Hauptman, The Art Guys, Richard Ryan, Sioban Piercy, Rosella Namok, Robert Cottingham, and Peter Plagens. He has received over fifty grants for exhibits, scholarly research, technology, and individual artist grants.
