If possible, incoming students should attend the Department of Art Orientation, which immediately follows the College of Fine Arts Orientation and Dean's Welcome. First year students should obtain advising at the College of Fine Arts Advising Center.

Returning students advancing in the major should meet with a department advisor each semester. Although students are free to choose which applicable class to take to fulfill a given requirement, Art students should be aware that that ART261, Survey of Art History II (An art core requirement) fulfills the University Core International requirement.
