BFA: Thomas Willis

Artist Statement

I’m interested in dualistic systems that de-center information by juxtaposing conflicting ideas and forces. I use materials and form to metaphorically translate this opposing symmetry. I am intrigued by the harmonious existence of the absent and the present, the human form and the natural form, the limited and the un-limited, the ordered and the chaotic, and how they can occur simultaneously within and without each other.

Thomas Willis is a candidate for the UNLV Department of Art Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting for the 2008-2009 school year. More information about his work and his contact information is available from his portfolio website, thomaswillis.net.
